CHAIR

CHAIR

Sofia alvarado

Hello, and welcome to CancunMun 2019!

My name is Sofia Alvarado, and I am very honored to be this year’s chair in the the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC). I am 18 years old and currently a senior here at the International American School of Cancun. When I graduate from high school, I would like to study business management, but I'm still deciding on which college I should attend.

I am a very active person, which is why I spend the majority of the time training triathlon, which consists of swimming, cycling, and running. I love going out with my friends and traveling to new places. I decided to direct this committee due to the fact that I am very interested in the topics included in DISEC.

I have been a part of MUN since 8th grade, and my passion for debating hasn't gone away. I have participated in six MUN conferences, which include PASMUN, ULSAMUN, GUAMUN, and of course, CancunMUN. I expect delegates to stay on their position and to take this debate very professional since this is a very serious committee. We remind you that the background guide cannot be your only source of information. We hope you’re ready for this committee!

Feel free to contact me at sofia.alvarado@ciac.edu.mx if you have any doubts or concerns.  I will be happy to help you. If you prefer to talk to the Secretariat team directly, the email is cancunmun@outlook.com.

See you soon!

CO-CHAIR

CO-CHAIR

Alejandro galue

Welcome, Delegates, to CancunMun 2019!

My name is Alejandro Galue, and I am honored to be your co-chair alongside Sofia Alvarado to run the DISEC committee. I am 18 years old and currently a senior at the International American School of Cancun which I have been attending since the 7th grade. I hope this year’s conference will be your favorite since we are doing our best to make sure you enjoy your experience.  Although I really like MUN, in my spare time I also like to play basketball.

Ever since my first MUN conference back in 9th grade, I started to appreciate debating. What I like most about debating is how people can have different point of views and how other opinions may influence yours. It is important for me to direct this committee since I am interested in topics concerning disarmament and international security matters. What I expect about my delegates is to stay true to their country’s position since it is crucial for a proper debate. It is important to mention that the background guide should not be your only source of information. We wish the best for you in this committee. Good luck!
