Nancy Hernandez

Nancy Hernández

My name is Nancy Hernández, and it is my privilege to be your Chair for the General Assembly during the 16th anniversary conference. I am 17 years old, and I am currently a senior at the International American School of Cancun. In my leisure time I enjoy skating, exercising, hanging out with my friends and traveling. Currently I study Portuguese and French because I think languages are highly important in getting to know people and breaking language barriers. After graduating, I plan on traveling with friends and then going to University of Texas at Austin to study environmental engineering.

Model United Nations has always been one of my interests, ever since I participated in my first conference four years ago, and each year I’ve participated on different committees. I will be working beside my lifelong friend and co-chair Valeria Wong, and I could not be more excited! We both encourage you to do plenty of research, since the background guides are only a place to start.

I expect delegates to have a positive, enthusiastic, professional attitude, and to be very well prepared. I am very excited about this year’s General Assembly; feel free to contact me at if you have any doubts or concerns. I will be happy to help you.

Valeria Wong

My name is Valeria Wong. I am 17 years old, and I'm currently a senior at the International American School of Cancun. For this year’s CancunMun, I have the honor to be working as co-chair in the United Nations General Assembly, alongside my Chair, Nancy Hernandez.

I enjoy dancing and editing in my free time and during the weekends I am out with my friends most of the time. A big passion of mine has always been photography and filmmaking; I perceive art as a unique way of expression and filmmaking as a way to capture memories forever. I would love to study filmmaking at the New York Film Academy or international business at the University of Toronto. I really enjoy traveling with friends and family, visiting places all around the world with different cultures and languages. My favorite language is French, and I long to live in Paris someday in order to become fluent in this awesome language. I currently belong to the National Honor Society, and this has also been a great learning experience for me.

This will be my 4th MUN conference. To be able to run a committee as big and important as the GA has inspired me to aim for excellence and to give you the best experience possible. It is expected that every delegate comes prepared with an open mind for debate; therefore, it is crucial that you don't rely just on the information provided by the background guide, but that you also look up outside sources of information. During the conference, I expect nothing more than an outstanding performance from every delegate at all times.

You can contact the secretariat team at or feel free to contact me personally at if you have any questions or concerns. This committee is expected to be challenging; be prepared for it! I look forward to seeing you in November.

Best of luck, Delegates!
