Hi Delegates!

We welcome you to the 16th annual CancunMun conference, and to the Security Council. My name is Michell Fonseca, and I have the pleasure of being your chair for this year´s conference. I am currently a junior here at the International American School of Cancun. I’ve been a student here since the 9th grade. When I have some free time, I enjoy going swimming, and hanging out with my friends and listening to music.

I’ve participated in four Model United Nations conferences, and I can honestly say that MUN is one of my passions. It is an amazing experience for people who want to change the world and have their voices heard. I met so many amazing people in each conference, and I hope that you as delegates get to connect with new people. What my Co-Chair and I expect from all of you, is that you represent your delegations perfectly, but still respect each other. Knowing and truly understanding what your country’s position is and sticking to it, no matter what other people tell you is also important.  As I said before, you meet so many new people, but I still want to remind you that the attitude during the sessions must be professional. You should also be aware that this background guide should not be your only source of information. You should investigate and get your information from other sources as well (and remember to properly cite them all!).
*NOTE* Having the most information or talking just to talk doesn’t mean you will win an award.

Please, don’t be afraid to contact me personally if you have any doubts at michell.fonseca@ciac.edu.mx or any of the Secretariat personnel at cancunmun@outlook.com; we will be more than happy to help you.
