Welcome to the XVI Cancun MUN conference!
My name is Liat Salame, and I am honored to be your chair for the United Nations Human Rights Council of 2019. I am 16 years old, and I am currently a junior at the International American School of Cancun. I am planning to study medicine outside Mexico after I graduate, and I hope I get the chance to travel before I start college. I like to spend my time playing volleyball, reading, and being with my friends.
I have participated in Model UN since 9th grade, and it has been a great experience for me. I was part of WHO and DISEC committees the past two years. I really like MUN because it gives delegates a chance to represent countries and give their opinions to work for a solution. I expect delegates to be well prepared and participate in the conference; the worst thing that can happen to a committee is when delegates do not participate! I encourage delegates to look for information outside the background guide; being well prepared will help you stand out in the debate, and the committee will be much more fluid.
You may contact me at email@example.com or any member of the Secretariat at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or any member of the secretariat team. I hope you have a great time at the conference; see you soon!
Delegates, I am very honored to welcome you to the 16th annual CancunMUN conference. First, I would like to start by introducing myself. My name is Julieta Dominguez. I´m 16 years old and currently I´m a junior at the International American School of Cancun (IAS). One thing I'm very passionate about is singing and playing any kind of music. My favorite sport is volleyball, and currently, I´m the captain of the team here at IAS. Being in the student council has given me leadership and security qualities. Spending time with the people that I love the most is something that makes me very happy. When I graduate I would like to travel to Europe with my friends or participate in a volunteer program at a place in need. Once I finish those, I would like to study entertainment management in Miami.
I have participated in the conference since 9th grade as a page, in 10th grade as a delegate representing Switzerland and I liked it very much. I was in the UNODC and UNICEF committees those two years. This year I was selected to be the co-chair at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). This is my first time being in the secretariat class and serving as a co-chair. MUN has helped me in various things. Personally, I think that if you have the opportunity of experiencing this, it will help you to develop many skills. I really like organizing and leading a conference. What I want for this year’s committee is a delegate is interested in the topics and comes up with a great solution, is well-prepared, organized, and represents his/her country position during the conference. As a reminder, I’m very grateful to have you in UNHRC and hope that we have very good delegates.
You may contact me at email@example.com or any member of the Secretariat at firstname.lastname@example.org
I hope delegates enjoy the experience, and I wish you the best of luck!
